VERNON SELECTBOARD

SPECIAL

 MEETING

WELCOME AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

At 2:30 pm Chair Mike Ball called the meeting to order, welcomed those present and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Mike Ball stated that this special meeting is to meet with John T. Leddy and Terri McAdams representing the Town of Vernon regarding the lawsuit of Turnley versus The Town of Vernon, Vermont for overtime pay. Terri McAdams is representing Vermont Leagues Cities and Towns which is the Town of Vernon’s insurance coverage. The process would be discussed in open session also review the summons and then establish a sub committee.

John Leddy explained that the Town of Vernon has been sued and is summons to Windham Superior Court to explain the charges. John Leddy stated that they are currently in the process of collecting information to response to the complaint. In terms of assisting council with litigation a sub committee needs to be established with one or two individuals to serve as ad-hock litigation so that if something arises he would be able to call or talk to a governing body. This would work best for the attorneys.

With no further question the Board moved on.                     

 

MIKE COURTEMANCHE MADE THE MOTION TO GO INTO EXECUTIVE SESSION ON A PERSONNEL MATTER/PENDING LITIGATION, WHICH THE DISCLOSURE OF AT THIS TIME MAY BE DETRIMENTAL TO THE TOWN AND/OR THE INDIVIDUALS INVOLVED. ROBERT MILLER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED

 

Mike Ball stated that the Board went into executive session @ 2:35 and came out @ 4:34 and no action was taken.           

 

MIKE COURTEMANCHE MADE THE MOTION TO ALLOW CHAIR MIKE BALL TO APPOINT AN AD-HOC LITIGATION SUB COMMITTEE TO WORK WITH THE DEFENSE COUNCIL ON PENDING LITIGATION. ROBERT MILLER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED.

 

MIKE COURTEMANCHE MADE THE MOTION TO ADJOURN. Lynda Staryorpinski SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED.

 

 Adjourned @4:36 PM.
